“Jana was recommended to me by a friend and colleague who is a national leader in evaluation and assessment, especially as it relates to social justice. Jana came to the work with fierce intellect, bringing insight into the data analysis, challenging assumptions and deepening the collective lens to create new research based frameworks. Her writing is impeccable and flawless. She provides leadership to connect data to systems change, outlining the throughline between conclusions and impactful action.
Most recently, Jana led members of our team to collaboratively design a recruitment, hiring and onboarding system for our company. As a Native company, this required that the systems generated reflect our values, cultural approaches (primarily Lakota), and would work within Native recruitment norms of the Northern Plains.
Recruiting Native candidates is challenging because mainstream hiring infrastructure is not inclusive of Native candidates. To successfully reach this market requires engaging informal Native social networks and generating marketing materials reflective of our region's shared tribal values and culture. Not only did the process generate a competitive pool of applicants, ti built our internal capacity and grew the leadership of our team. Jana worked closely with two Native team members who are young in their careers (34 and 20), providing mentorship and guidance while appropriately centering their voice, contributions, and insight. I have witnessed my team grow in confidence, voice, and capacity under Jana's leadership. With strong grounding in equity, our team valued Jana's leadership ni this space and sought her out to strengthen processes, materials, and provide guidance.”

“During my tenure in the Rochester City School District as a member and president of the Board, Dr. Carlisle was the liaison to several Board committees. In this capacity, she provided the Board of Education with exceptional guidance regarding effective policy development and implementation. For example, Dr. Carlisle was instrumental in developing the elementary school choice policy, which helped balance ethnic and socio-economic demographics and academics across elementary attendance zones.”

“All in all, and based upon my knowledge of top-notch educational leaders gained as a long-time superintendent and state agency deputy, Dr. Carlisle is a can’t-miss expert for major consulting projects targeting large, complex, and multi-faceted urban school districts and organizations focused on them. She can see and understand different perspectives on issues and is not a person who becomes overly committed or possessive to any particular initiative. She is pragmatic—a trait that makes her uniquely qualified to provide insights to districts and organizations where various perspectives are valued. She is smart, quick witted, articulate, politically savvy, kid-oriented, knowledgeable about educational policy, a strong presenter, people-oriented, and technologically advanced; understands and values diversity; and possesses high integrity and an incredible work ethic.”
