1. Advised a faculty member on the redesign of a University graduate-level-required course on the Superintendency (e.g., conducted research for, identified appropriate readings and exercises, and aligned syllabus content).

  2. Led — for a major urban school district — the development of:

    • Several district-wide strategic plans in conjunction with union representatives, parents, students, principals, central office staff, community partners, and board of education members;

    • A school-to-work and youth apprenticeship model’s design and federal grant proposal submission; and

    • The federal grant’s implementation activities.

  3. Led the development of district strategic framework and communications plan for a major urban school district.

  4. Led the development and implementation of a business plan, organizational change strategy, equity plan, communications plan, and fund development strategy for national education leadership non profit.

  5. Co-developed A+ Washington: A Way Forward for All Students as part of Excellent Schools Now Coalition work.

  6. Led a team of professionals from four, state-level organizations (Governor’s Office, Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction, Professional Educators Standards Board, and State Board of Education) to develop and submit Washington State’s Race to the Top application, which demonstrated broad participation from 90% of districts, representing 97% of students and 98% of students in poverty as well as substantial stakeholder commitment from multiple sectors, organizations, and leaders. 

  7. Developed work plans and deliverables for a state-level education reform plan; managed public-private relationships; facilitated core teams; and sub-contracted with and managed a communications firm.

  8. Facilitated the development of, wrote, and edited an urban middle school’s Corrective Action Plan and Comprehensive School Plan for submission to board of education and state education department.

  9. Oversaw and facilitated teams coordinating the creation of a major urban district’s comprehensive strategic facilities concept plan (incorporating modernization and school closures).and wrote facilities’ restructuring plan for one of the district’s comprehensive high school as it transitioned to a school housing four small schools.

  10. Led the 18-month implementation of the Rochester Children’s Zone community planning process; facilitated the development of and wrote the March 2007 Community Plan, the August 2007 Implementation Framework, and August 2007 RCZ Transition Plan; secured $4 million in state funding; and transitioned implementation of project to community-based 501(c)(3).
